Vote of thanks
We would like to express our true gratitude to the Jury that took part in the Semi Final D, Ethics and Professional Conduct of Themis Competition 2022 not only for their positive feedback on our piece of work, but also for the special award granted to the team for its innovative approach in creating the Ethics Platform. We are inclined to believe that the audience’s wild applause and the Jury’s award mark the future in the existence of the Judicial Ethics Platform. We are enormously grateful for the considerable trust that our colleagues placed in us and for the impetus we received from the Jury and from the other participants in the Competition.

Moreover, they praised the Bulgarian team on winning the special Jury award for Innovation in Creating the Ethics Platform in the Semi Final D, Ethics and Professional Conduct of Themis Competition 2022.

The Bulgarian team is wholeheartedly thankful to RAI for the warm words of encouragement, approval and sincere belief in the power of the message that the Bulgarians wanted to convey to all young representatives of the judiciaries from the 27 MSs. The team has been profoundly grateful to its magnificent tutor – judge Angelina Lazarova. Her devotion, dedication and work ethics were the trigger and the stepping stone to the success of the three young magistrates from Bulgaria. Their career paths have been greatly enlightened by her presence. Education means inspiring someone’ s mind, so a huge “THANK YOU” to judge Lazarova for being the most beautiful inspirer.
Special award from THEMIS 2022 competition
Our team – Georgi Kodjanikolov – junior prosecutor in Regional Prosecutor’s Office Plovdiv, Kalina Stancheva – junior judge in Sofia City Court and Radoslav Angelov, junior judge in District Court-Lovech with tutorAngelina Lazarova, judge in Court of Appeal – Varna, took part at the semi-final “Judicial Ethics and Professional Conduct” of the prestigious competition for junior magistrates THEMIS, organized by the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN). The competition was held in the period July 11-15, in the city of Barcelona, Spain.
The topic “Call for harmonization of the rules of judicial ethics and professional conduct” was received with particular attention and interest by the participants in the competition. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has expressed a desire to cooperate and work together to develop this website.
For the development of the platform, the Bulgarian team received the special award for innovation from the jury of the “THEMIS” competition.
Bulgarian National Institute of Justice selected opinions of candidates for junior judges and prosecutors and published Journal on Ethics and Professional Conduct of magistrates, which could be downloaded here.
